“North Indian Rainy Season Skincare: What We Tell Our Patients”

When monsoon hits North India, we all welcome the cool breeze, the relief from the heat, and of course, the chai-pakora mood. But while the weather becomes romantic, your skin often doesn’t enjoy it as much.

At Dr. Rizwan’s Skin, Cosmetic & Laser Clinic in Shahjahanpur, this is the time when we start seeing more complaints of:

• Sticky, sweaty skin

• Sudden breakouts

• Fungal infections

• Rashes

• Dull, uneven skin tone

Let’s talk about what happens to your skin during the rainy season and the simple, clear advice we give our patients to keep skin calm and healthy.

☔ What’s Different About Monsoon Season?

Monsoon brings:

High humidity

Sweaty, damp clothes

Sudden temperature shifts

Increased bacteria/fungus in the air

All of these mess with your skin in different ways — especially if you’re prone to acne, oily skin, or have sensitive skin.

💥 Common Skin Problems During Monsoon

1. Increased Acne and Pimples

Humidity leads to:

• Excess oil production

• Blocked pores

• Sweat trapped under the skin

➡️ Tip: Use a gel-based cleanser and don’t touch your face frequently.

2. Fungal Infections (Very Common!)

Seen in areas like:

• Underarms

• Inner thighs

• Between toes

• Waistline (due to tight clothes)

➡️ Tip: Keep folds dry, wear loose cotton clothes, and don’t reuse damp towels.

3. Dull and Dehydrated Skin

Surprisingly, even in humid weather, skin can feel dry or dull. It’s because:

• People skip moisturizers thinking they’re not needed

• Skin loses internal moisture despite outer sweat

➡️ Tip: Use a light, non-greasy moisturizer – especially one with hyaluronic acid or niacinamide.

4. Itchy or Red Rashes

If your skin is sensitive, the bacteria in the air + friction from wet clothes = itchy, inflamed skin.

➡️ Tip: Don’t ignore it. Sometimes it’s early sign of infection that needs proper medical cream.

✅ What We Recommend to Our Patients

1. Cleanser:

Use a gentle, non-foaming face wash twice a day.

Avoid harsh scrubs — they can irritate damp skin.

2. Moisturizer:

Even oily skin needs one. Use gel-based moisturizers with soothing ingredients like aloe vera, panthenol, or ceramides.

3. Sunscreen:

Yes, still needed! UV rays penetrate clouds. Use a matte sunscreen or gel-based SPF.

4. Clothes:

Wear breathable, quick-drying cotton. Avoid tight jeans or synthetic leggings.

5. Foot Care:

Dry your feet properly. Use antifungal dusting powder if prone to fungal infections.

6. Hair & Scalp:

Don’t keep wet hair tied up for long. Use an anti-dandruff shampoo once or twice a week during monsoon.

🧴 Bonus Tip: Go Easy on Makeup

Monsoon = high humidity. Heavy makeup tends to clog pores or melt, leading to acne.

If needed, go for:

• Tinted sunscreen

• Light BB cream

• Non-comedogenic products

🚨 When to Visit the Clinic

Book an appointment if you see:

• Rashes that don’t go away

• Fungal infections that keep coming back

• Acne flaring up despite skincare

• Peeling or unusual red patches

Final Words

Rainy season skincare isn’t about fancy products. It’s about keeping the skin clean, calm, and dry in the right places.

With small changes, you can enjoy the monsoon and keep your skin happy too.
