“Applying Too Many Things at Once? Here’s What to Stop First”

“Applying Too Many Things at Once? Here’s What to Stop First”

Skincare Overload Is Real – Let’s Simplify It

“Sir, main serum bhi lagata hoon, moisturizer bhi, acne cream bhi aur sunscreen bhi… fir bhi skin thik nahi ho rahi.”

“Madam, YouTube pe 5-step routine dekha tha – sab try kiya, daane aur badh gaye.”

At Dr. Rizwan’s Skin Cosmetic & Laser Clinic, we’re seeing more and more people with the same problem — not skin damage from one cream, but damage from using too many things together.

Yes, there’s such a thing as doing too much to your skin.

🤯 What Is Skincare Overload?

Using 5–6 products back-to-back, often without understanding:

• Ingredients

• Layering order

• Skin type

• Frequency

The result?

• Pimples

• Redness

• Dry patches

• Confused, irritated skin

🧪 What Happens When You Overload?

1. Actives Clash

Using vitamin C, niacinamide, AHA/BHA, retinol together – without gaps or layering knowledge – can burn your skin barrier.

2. No Time to Absorb

Applying too many things too quickly means nothing works properly.

The skin becomes clogged and greasy.

3. Skin Gets Confused

Too much input = zero clarity.

The skin doesn’t know whether to heal, exfoliate, hydrate, or protect.

🚨 Signs You Need to Stop

• You’ve added 3 or more new products in 1 week

• Skin feels tight, red, or extra oily

• You’re getting new breakouts despite following a “good” routine

• No improvement after 2–3 weeks of layering

🛑 What to Stop First

1. Extra Serums

If you’re using 2–3 serums, drop all but one.

Choose the one that suits your current concern (like acne, pigmentation, or dryness).

2. Strong Actives (Retinol, Acids)

Stop these temporarily if skin feels burnt, sensitive or red. Restart slowly once things settle.

3. Random DIYs

Ubtans, lemon juice, haldi paste – stop immediately. These are often the hidden culprits.

4. Too-Frequent Facewash or Scrubs

Stop washing your face more than 2–3 times a day. Stop all scrubbing until skin feels normal.

✅ What to Continue (Safe Zone)

Gentle facewash (twice a day)

Simple moisturizer (morning and night)

Mild sunscreen (daytime) – not optional

That’s all your skin needs during recovery.

🧼 Then What?

After 7–10 days of this simple routine, your skin will start calming down.

Then slowly add 1 product at a time, with proper gap and guidance.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Rizwan’s Honest Tip:

“More products don’t mean faster results.

It usually means slower healing, more damage, and a confused patient.

Start simple, go slow, and always understand what you’re applying and why.”
