“How to Avoid That Sticky Feeling in Monsoon Without Overwashing”

“How to Avoid That Sticky Feeling in Monsoon Without Overwashing”

📍 From Dr. Rizwan’s Skin Cosmetic & Laser Clinic, Shahjahanpur

Humidity + Sweat + Dust = Sticky, greasy, heavy skin.

Monsoon is refreshing for nature, but not so much for your skin.

Most people think the solution is simple:

“Wash your face again and again.”

But overwashing can actually make your skin worse — dry, irritated, or even more oily!

So how do you stay fresh without harming your skin barrier?

Here are smart tips that work — straight from our clinic to your routine.

🧴 1. Wash Twice – But Smartly

Yes, only twice a day is enough — morning and night.

But the trick is to:

✅ Use a gentle, sulphate-free cleanser

✅ Choose a face wash that controls oil without drying

✅ If you feel sticky in the middle of the day — splash with plain water, no face wash

✅ Don’t scrub too much — it can lead to breakouts and irritation

🧻 2. Use Blotting Tissues or Soft Face Wipes (Not Wet Wipes)

Instead of running to the washroom 5 times a day:

👉 Carry oil-blotting papers — they soak oil without disturbing your skin

👉 Or use unscented, alcohol-free face wipes once a day, not more

Pro tip: Dab, don’t rub. Your skin is not a blackboard.

💧 3. Pick a Light Moisturizer – Yes, You Still Need One

In monsoon, many people skip moisturizer thinking,

“I’m already oily. Why add more?”

But when you skip moisturizer, skin feels dry inside and produces more oil to compensate.

Go for:

💧 Gel-based or water-based moisturizers

💧 Look for “non-comedogenic” or “oil-free” on the label

💧 Apply on damp skin, not fully dry – this helps lock in hydration

☁️ 4. Stay Cool, But Avoid Overuse of AC

Humidity makes us run to AC, but:

❌ Sudden temperature shifts (humid outside, dry inside)

❌ Constant airflow on face

= Can make skin irritated, patchy or cause breakouts

If you sit under AC:

✅ Keep a light moisturizer handy

✅ Use a hydrating mist spray 2–3 times a day (rose water works well too)

🍋 5. Clean Diet = Less Sticky Skin

Excess oil production also comes from:

• Fried, spicy food

• Too much sugar

• Lack of hydration

During monsoon:

🥗 Eat more fruits, veggies, and drink enough water

🥤 Coconut water and buttermilk help cool the system

🧂 Avoid too much salt – it can cause puffiness

Final Thoughts from Dr. Rizwan

Sticky feeling in monsoon is normal — but you don’t need to fight it by over-washing or over-cleansing.

Instead, adjust your products, carry smart tools, and let your skin breathe.

Less is more — even in monsoon.
