600 Blogs Later – The Funniest Skin Myths I’ve Heard

Writing 600 blogs on skin means I’ve answered thousands of doubts, broken countless myths, and shared endless tips. But in between, patients have shared some truly funny skin myths that still make me smile. Here are a few that stand out:

1. “Doctor sahab, toothpaste lagao acne pe – next morning gayab ho jaayega.”

If toothpaste was really a magic acne cream, pharmacies would go bankrupt! 😄 In reality, it only irritates skin and leaves behind marks.

2. “Sir, daadhi banane se hair mota ho jaata hai.”

One of the oldest myths! Shaving does not change hair thickness. It only feels rougher because of the blunt cut of hair.

3. “Ghee lagane se skin gora ho jaata hai.”

I once had a patient who said her nani swore by it. Truth is — ghee is great for chapped lips or dry skin, but it won’t change skin color.

4. “Sir, pimples sirf chocolates khane se hote hain.”

If that were true, every teenager would be a pimple factory. While diet plays a role, acne has many causes: hormones, oil glands, and sometimes genetics.

5. “Neem ka paudha kamre mein rakh lo, pimples khud theek ho jaayenge.”

Plants give oxygen and positivity, but unfortunately, they don’t give pimple treatment through Wi-Fi signals.

6. “Doctor, fairness cream use karo toh rishta jaldi pakka hota hai.”

This one always makes me sad and smile at the same time. Skin health is important, but life partner compatibility isn’t written in creams.

7. “Sir, skin ko roz ghisna chahiye taaki saari gandagi nikal jaye.”

Over-scrubbing only damages your skin barrier. Skin is not a bartan (utensil) that shines more the harder you rub!

Why I Love These Myths

Because they remind me that while myths can be funny, they also show how much skin awareness is needed. Each myth is an opportunity to teach patients the truth in a light-hearted way.

👉 After 600 blogs, I’ve realized one thing: patients don’t just need treatment, they also need the right stories about skin. Busting myths — sometimes with a smile, sometimes with seriousness — is as important as prescribing medicine.
