Many patients in my clinic ask, “Doctor, can headphones really cause skin problems?” The answer is yes—if you’re not careful.

1. Acne & Folliculitis

• Sweat, oil, and friction from tight headphones can clog pores.

• This leads to acne-like bumps, especially around the ears, jawline, and even scalp edges.

2. Contact Dermatitis (Allergy)

• Cheap plastic or metal parts may trigger allergic reactions.

• Symptoms: redness, burning, itching on the ear rim.
