What to Know Before Getting a Laser Treatment – From a Clinic That Does It Daily

What to Know Before Getting a Laser Treatment – From a Clinic That Does It Daily

Thinking about laser treatment?

Maybe for unwanted hair, pigmentation, acne marks, or skin tightening?

Laser sounds high-tech (and a little scary), right?

But it doesn’t have to be — if you know what to expect.

At Dr. Rizwan’s Skin, Cosmetic & Laser Clinic, we perform multiple laser sessions every day. And here’s what we always explain to our patients before they start.

💡 First — What Exactly Is a Laser Treatment?

Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. But in simple words — it’s focused light energy that targets specific skin concerns without cutting or damaging the surrounding skin.

Depending on your skin need, we use lasers for:

• Unwanted facial/body hair

• Pigmentation (dark spots, melasma)

• Acne scars or open pores

• Skin rejuvenation and glow

• Tattoo removal

• Skin tightening and toning

• Birthmarks or vascular lesions

📌 What You Should Know Before Getting One

1. One session is not a miracle.

Most laser treatments require multiple sessions for best results — sometimes 4, 6, or even 8, depending on the issue.

So yes, it’s a process. Not a magic wand.

2. Not all lasers are the same.

There are many types — Diode, Q-Switched, Fractional CO2, Nd:YAG, etc.

Each has a different purpose.

✅ We choose your laser type based on your skin tone, concern, and medical history.

So don’t compare your friend’s results — they probably got a completely different laser.

3. Pre-laser prep is important.

Before your session:

• Avoid waxing, threading, or bleaching

• Stop strong creams (like retinoids or steroids) 3-5 days before

• Stay out of the sun

We always give a prep guide to our patients so your skin is ready.

4. It might sting a bit – but it’s tolerable.

Laser feels like tiny rubber band snaps on your skin.

It’s not unbearable, and we apply numbing cream when needed.

Most people are surprised — they expect pain, but it’s usually mild.

5. Post-care matters (a lot).

Laser works under your skin too. So what you do after the session is just as important.

Post-laser tips we usually give:

• No sun exposure for 48-72 hrs

• Apply soothing creams/gel prescribed

• Use sunscreen regularly

• No makeup or heavy products for 1-2 days

• Don’t scratch, pick or rub the skin

6. It’s safe when done by trained experts.

We cannot stress this enough.

Untrained hands or cheap machines can burn, scar, or worsen your skin.

At our clinic, all lasers are:

✅ US FDA-approved

✅ Done by trained doctors or certified technicians

✅ Based on a clear diagnosis and skin type evaluation

⚠️ Is Laser for Everyone?

Not always. We don’t recommend laser if:

• You’re pregnant or breastfeeding

• You have active skin infections

• You’re prone to keloids (thick scars)

• You’ve used isotretinoin recently

• You’re too tanned or have had recent sunburn

That’s why we do a full skin check first. Safety comes first.

👩🏻‍⚕️ What Makes Our Laser Clinic Different?

Customized settings – based on your skin tone and concern

Patch testing – we test a small area before full session

Cooling techniques – to keep you comfortable

Real expectations – we explain what’s possible and what’s not

Follow-ups – to track results and tweak the plan

Final Thought:

Laser treatments are safe, effective, and often life-changing — when done right.

But don’t rely on hearsay or online ads.

Talk to a skin expert, understand your options, and choose the right place.
